I don’t know about you but I love getting my Christmas shopping done early. Mostly because I want to enjoy the holiday season, not make trips into town for last minute gifts. And, as much as I love shopping online, I’m making a huge effort this year to support small businesses struggling through COVID.
I have compiled a list of some shopping options for the people on your shopping list.
1. The Coffee Lover
I highly recommend paying a visit to Rose N Crantz to satisfy the coffee lover on your list. The staff is incredibly helpful, not only will they help you pick the best bean flavour, they will help you get other merchandise your coffee lover will love!
2. The Eco Lover
For the person who has everything and wants to do their part for the Earth look no further than Kraft Tbay and their amazing NAKED box. They have teamed up with local eco businesses to make the ultimate eco friendly box and bonus it is beautifully
wrapped as well! I can foresee a lot of these boxes under Christmas trees this holiday season.
3. The Spa Lover
Spoil the spa lover on your list with products from McChristies. McChristies has a multitude of products to please anyone on your list. Her soaps and body butters smell good enough to eat. I am currently savoring the French Vanilla body butter right now!
4. The Meat Lover
My husband is a meat lover, always has
been. Every year Santa fills his stocking with delicious meats (specifically beef jerky or pepperettes) from around Thunder Bay. This year Santa will be getting a variety of meats from businesses at the Thunder Bay Country Market such as Cornell Farms and My Pride Farm. Make sure you check it out!
5. The Beer Lover
Have a beer lover on your list and not sure what to get them? Purchase multiple flavours from Sleeping Giant Brewery and create a variety pack for your beer lover. Who knows maybe they'll find a new flavour of beer that becomes their favourite!
6. The Host
I like to think that my Ultimate
Treat Box is the best host(ess) gift you can get but there are others. If you don't want to gift your host(ess) the gift of sweets try hitting up Authentique, they have a variety of gifts and wares sure to bring a smile to your host(ess)'s face!
7. The Kids
Is there any better toy store to explore than Toy Sense?! My kids love it in there and they have such a variety of fun toys to choose from. I love shopping there for both our kids plus our nieces and nephews!
8. The Sweet Lover
Everyone has a sweet tooth. Again I like to think that everyone will come to my business for the sweets lover on their list but again there are others. If you have a sweet lover on your list you have to check out the multitude of bakers down at the Thunder Bay Country Market. There are numerous bakers with a multitude of sweet options including some that are gluten free!
9. The Fragrance Lover
Personally I love candles and while I enjoy
the scents of the season I also enjoy
the year round scents as well. If you have a fragrance lover on your list you have to check out the new Waxxed candle shop! Not only is their shop super cute they have a variety of fragrances and you're sure to find one the fragrance lover will love! My current favourite is coffee and vanilla.
10. The Northerner
So I just discovered this store and I am so glad that I did before this post. Northwest is located in the mall and is local and also supports other local businesses! My husband has a very picky clothing style and right now its very difficult to find a good sweatshirt for him. We came across Northwest while shopping and found the PERFECT sweatshirt, he loves its, the quality is amazing and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend you check the store out!
The Thunder Bay area has so many amazing local businesses and there is no way that I could have mentioned them all. The added bonus of shopping local this year is that it will be more reliable than online this year due to high shipping costs and availability. I also know that should we go back into lockdown many local businesses have delivery or curbside pick up options for your convenience!
